Today’s Word: Serve
“For the Son of Man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45
Biblical Context
James and John had asked Jesus for places of honor in His kingdom. Jesus corrected the disciples’ view of greatness: among His followers, greatness is expressed through humble service. He then pointed to His own mission as the perfect example.
Mini Bible Study
Jesus did not merely teach service; He embodied it. Though worthy of all honor, He chose to meet needs and ultimately gave His life for others. His words challenge our instinct to seek recognition, control, or comfort. Christian service is not a way to earn God’s love. It is a response to the love Christ has already shown us. As we follow Him, even ordinary acts of patience, generosity, and care can reflect His character.

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to serve and for giving Yourself for us. Free me from the need to be noticed. Give me Your humility, compassion, and willingness to love others in practical ways today. Amen.
